Maybe you’ve been to one too many backyard barbecues and your pants are starting to fit a little too snug.  Summertime can cause some people to gain weight because they are more likely to indulge in snacks and alcoholic beverages on the weekend. Get yourself back in shape with these tips on how to lose 5 pounds the healthy way!

Start off by doing a gentle detox.  Drink freshly squeezed lemon and water first thing in the morning before you have anything to eat. Wait about 15 minutes before having breakfast to allow for the lemon to get to work activating a detoxification mechanism in the body.  Getting rid of toxins from your body is an excellent way to help shed unwanted pounds.

Add a couple of yoga classes per week to your fitness regime.  Yoga poses can also help aid in detoxification as they stimulate the organs of the body and help kick out toxins.

Cut down on carbohydrate consumption.  You would be surprised just how quickly the carbohydrate count can add up if you are adding a muffin to your morning coffee run, or are eating sandwiches for lunch every day.  Check out our recipe for Lettuce Wraps here.

Finally, make a conscious effort to skip dessert a few nights a week (or every night) and limit after dinner snacking. If you find that you are hungry prior to going to bed, have an apple or a small handful of almonds.
