Communiqué – November 2012
Do you want to become a leader in workplace health?
Are you ready for the release of the National Standard of Canada Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace?

Has your organization realigned itself to manage the true cause of absenteeism?

With the rising costs of healthcare benefits and absenteeism, addressing disability claims should NOT be your primary solution. In the past 10 years there has be a huge trend to spend corporation dollars on managing disability alone. Having been in the business myself for over 20 years, managing claims is necessary but it should really be performed in conjunction with a bigger plan that focuses on employee health. This is the answer to long term cost containment.

Do you want to become a leader in workplace health?

  • Get ahead of your disability claims
  • Have a 3rd or 4th party analyze your disability management situation/provider
  • Reallocate your disability management dollars to Health Initiatives
  • Develop a Health Management Program that goes beyond Health & Wellness
  • Be prepared to address the real root of the problem
  • Be committed to long term solutions
  • Be prepared for maximum results!

Mental Health Issues in the Workplace
The standards regarding Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace, according to the OOHNA Journal, Fall 2012 edition, is the first of its kind in the world! We are either on the leading edge of how to manage Workplace Mental Health Issues here in Canada or we have the most mental health claims in the workplace than any other place in the world! What is your opinion? Feel free to blog with me about this issue.
My article found on our website, written over 12 years ago, identified we were heading in this direction – mental health disability claims was going to surpass any physical health concern by the year 2020. Staggering costs show, the ‘economic burden is being estimated at $51 billion per year, with $20 billion coming from workplace losses’. (OOHNA Journal, Fall 2012) Unfortunately many employers are not yet prepared to address this growing problem.

Where does your organization stand on workplace health issues?
