I had the greatest pleasure of teaching this weekend at the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine in Toronto.  Gathered were 16 of our college’s newest Grads to be!  Eager to listen and learn, we talked about succeeding in small business – not always an easy thing to do these days… but most rewarding.

These were my words of encouragement, not only to them but to all Holistic Professionals that have an unending passion for making a difference in today’s healthcare system. Bridging the gap between conventional and holistic medicine is an honor but also a challenge.  My belief is that we all have a place in this world and there is plenty of work, in our healthcare system to share.  Providing our clients with health care options and quality service is a responsibility we should all take seriously.

There is no need to debate which system of medicine is best or more scientific. We can go a long way back in history to prove every one of our points as to how we got here, and why one professional thinks their system is better than the others. As far as I am concerned, we should stand united and collaborated in our efforts to ensure our clients receive the best possible health care for quality and longevity in life. If conventional and holistic medicine joined hands, what a force we would be – conquering the ailments of the world. We would worry about health versus disability and illness; we could empower each other to take care of ourselves when we are sick. We would stop living in fear of every ache and pain, and rejoice instead in life.

As holistic professionals, we are here to make a difference; to assist in the general health of our population; to provide choices for all. We are not here to take over but instead to join the challenge of promoting health and wellness. Take the time to learn about holistic health options. More importantly, the choice is yours – Homeopath, Naturopath, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy etc etc – all amazing health care choices.

I challenge all health care professionals to work together in health as one. I wish the new Graduates at OCHM all the best in their endeavors.
