Most workplaces are filled with employees from different cultures, work experiences, education and personalities. The mixture of energies can have a significant impact on the overall tone of the workplace leaving you exhausted by the end of the day. What is your workplace energy?

It is easy to blame workloads, tight deadlines and even supervisory demands on negative energies at the office. This week at work, pay particular attention to how you feel during meetings and personal interactions with your co-workers, management team and customers. Do your interactions leave you feeling energized or fatigued?

Here are three tips to improve the energy of your workplace:

Lead By Example – Create a morning routine to set a positive mindset that lasts the entire day. Listen to music, read an inspiring quote, or do a short meditation before you start your workday.  You may need to check back in on these motivators during the day to maintain a positive outlook. Utilize your breaks and lunch hour to assess how you are feeling and re-focus for the remainder of the shift if needed.

Energize Your Co-Workers – Get to know your co-workers and look for ways to encourage and motivate them to have a positive approach while on the job. Compliment a job well done, provide support when a fellow co-worker is feeling down and find ways to create a fun, upbeat atmosphere.

Create a Sense of Community  – Set goals as a group so all employees are working towards a common goal to increase morale and camaraderie. Addressing workplace energies has a significant impact on everyone’s absenteeism levels throughout the year.

You spend half your day on the job. Find ways to enjoy it!
